For the post of Coast Guard Navik, Join Indian Army will release result in different parts, such as 1) written examination, 2) PET test and 3) final merit list of the selected candidates. The selection procedure is one of the key factors which decide whether one candidate will get selected for the post he applied for or not. After the successful registration process, candidates must have the clear understanding of the selection rounds then only he will be able to prepare best for the exam which roughly translates to better chances of getting selected. Candidates have to make sure they clear each and every level then only they can expect to get selected and offer the Coast Guard Navik GD job. Here are the selection stages:
Applied candidates list will be organized center wise and the examination is going to be conducted on scheduled time and the selection process will be s follows:
- Written examination
- Physical test
- Documents verification
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of higher percentage of marks for a particular examination Centre.
If the number of qualified candidates number crosses the number of seats reserved for that particular Centre then the qualifying cut off percentage (%) may be increased.
The written examination will be of MCQ Based objective type, and the question paper will be based on subjects such as Physics, Maths, basic Chemistry, knowledge of English upto 12th class standard and current affairs, general knowledge, quantitative aptitude and reasoning will be also there in the question paper.
Candidates who will successfully qualify for the written examination will have to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and mandatory Initial Medical Examination (Preliminary). This entire testing procedure will take 2-3 days to complete.
Note: Physically Challenged candidates are not eligible to apply for this examination.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Written test qualified candidates will be then called for PFT. All candidates are advised to be in possession of sports rig (Shoe, T-shirt, Trouser etc). The PFT will consist of,
-> 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes without fail.
-> 20 Squat ups (Uthak Baithak)
-> 10 Push up. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk and if any injury takes place candidates will have to take that responsibility for themselves.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) qualified candidates will also go through initial recruitment medical examination at the respective recruitment Centres ( or any other place which would be mentioned in the admit card).
Written examination performance will enable Indian Coast Guard to shortlist candidates and call them for medical examination in a ratio which will be decided by the Indian Coast Guard. But having the initial medical examination does not indicate that a candidate is selected for the final medical at INS Chilka.
- Medical Standards.- A) Medical examination will be conducted by authorized Military Doctors as per the medical standard prescribed in the form.
B) Height. Minimum height 157 cms. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. orders.
(c) Chest. Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.
(d) Weight. Proportionate to height and age +10% acceptable.
(e) Hearing. Normal.
Important Note: The final merit list will be zone wise and not center wise.
Documents verification: Candidates have to make sure they have uploaded all documents correctly and there is not false information. Prior the written examination documents verification will be carried out.

Finally, a final merit list will be prepared with the candidates who will qualify in all the selection tests depending on the total or prescribed available vacancies. The final merit list of the selected candidates will be displayed in the Indian Coast Guard official Website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in zone wise on the month of Jul 2017.

The call letters for Final Medical Examination have been issued to the candidates who successfully cleared all the selection round and got provisionally selected for Navik (DB) 01/2017 batch. This is the final round candidates need to make sure to clear at INS Chilka for the final enrollment. Without failure, candidates are required to report to ” INS Chilka, Post Office – Chilka, Dist – Khurda, Orissa 752 037″ as per the schedule mentioned in the issued call letter.
